New Drift Racer screens power into view

Driving high-powered motorcars at terrifying speeds has long been the staple of the videogame racer, but Sammy's latest title takes this spectacle from the relatively safe confines of a racetrack to the free environments of the highway. And as such, it's looking rather funky.

Set on the twisting, turning Japanese roads of Japan called the Kaido, Drift Racer: Kaido Battle features over 120 cars to tinker with as well as a career mode, head-to-head racing if you fancy taking a friend on, and, ooh, loads of other dead good stuff.

Throw in natty environmental features including snow, rain and fog, and Drift Racer looks like a fine highway-based alternative to Gran Turismo 4's seductive charms. Drift Racer is out in February next year.
