Playing games is what PCZone is all about, so it would be a good idea to play these games with each other. Rather than with awful children with more confidence than should be allowed, on the random servers we are forced join, when our normal game pals are out shagging hotties.
Obviously the staff at PCZ have jobs to do and I imagine sometimes just cannot be arsed playing another game when they get home, so why wait for the monthly Fightclub to play with, get into arguments with and in general, fall out with each other?
This thread is for suggestions on events, such as Community Fightclubs, Game Releases (as I have been doing already), announcements etc. Post your thoughts, and I'll put them on Steam, without the need for bothering staff to do it for you. I'll probably adminise one or two of you to help if need be.
Maybe if we're lucky, someone will Sticky this thread so that it won't disappear of the edge of the map.
Having just enjoyed a little game of Project: Valkyrie, perhaps we could have another game soon, or a game of CS or TF2?
How about a game of something tomorrow, Sun 9th Mar, in the afternoon, if some kinda sporting event isn't on, or even if it is and you can't be arsed watching it?
Community Fightclub

Counterstrike?
TF2?
Haha, Diablo 2?
WoW is forbidden.
C'mon, what better way to relax after coming home from Church than by murdering avatars representative of people in reality?
regular community get togethers would also be good, but you'd need to get a partnership going with the server ops, things like star wars skins only in css, zombie night, anything different to the norm you get elsewhere. _________________ my n00bness astounds even me!!
are you n00b enough?

I played Zombie Strike: Source (I think that's what it's called) with Wandy a while ago. It was brilliant fun. PC Zone used to have a server for it, but I think they've taken it down now to make way for TF2 servers. If you manage to find a decent server for that - I'd definetely have a game with you guys. Try and sort something out soon, though, I'm bloody bored here.
Good plan. You might want to make some kind of announcment through Steam pointing toward this here thread, as there seems to be a whole lot more folk that are part of the PCZ group than regularly post here.
My game of choice would predictably be TF2, though I may well be up for some CS if there's sufficient notice.
Definately more Fightclub though, even if it is just between community members.
How about we, that is, those of us who have Audiosurf, have a contest to see who can be the best a specific song, maybe every week.
We'd all of course need to have the same song, though that should not be so hard as long as it is a reasonably popular song. To keep it amongst readers/forumites, without needing to add everyone to your friends lists, we can just ask you all to rename the song's file name to something else, for example "PCZoneAudiosurfCompetition - Enter Sandman.mp3". Then the global scores will reflect everyone on the forum's score.
We'd all get a week to do it and by a specific time and day. Then when it's time we can check the board and see who has won. Hurrah!

I was just having my first go on the game when the event popped up, so have join in I must.
Did we have a thread somewhere to discuss which songs worked well with the game? I'd recommend Múm's "Blessed Brambles" from their latest album, and DJ Shadow's "Building Steam With a Grain of Salt" from his first as particularly interesting tracks...
No, I just picked a song I thought alot of people would have, which is really kinda how we're gonna have to play it. Can't ask people to go out and buy CDs and s**t every week or use iTunes (which of course some of us refuse to use).
I've just noticed that the version of the song I raced is a subtler upwards gradient than the others... why would that be? The track lengths are the same...
Oh, I wasn't suggesting we use use them thar songs for competin' with, I was just makin' conversation.
While we're at it, I don't own any Metallica, so nar. :p
It's a shame there's not some sort of system so we could share interesting tracks with each other. I mean, we could try, but the RIAA would probably charge us $1,000,000 dollars and a non-lubricated anal surprise sex per song. (Unless we're disabled and/or really, really hard up, in which case it would be $2,000,000 and a gang-bumming.)
Wow, Group Player of the Week, eh? What a surprise! (Well, not really, I saw myself at the top of the leaderboard for a while.) I'd like to take a moment to thank my mum, my cat, all my (real life) friends about this I've never spoken, apophis_dd for reading the leaderboard so well and everyone who was lower than me on the board - kiss my bottom, losers! *wipes a tear from eye*
I don't know how many people took advantage of the Prey for $5 offer, but I managed to get a hold of it before it rose sharply back up. Had a pop of the mp game and whilst it's a pretty standard deathmatch shooter, once you factor in the fact that gravity is different on most surfaces (and you can change it in some rooms) and the spirit walk (where you leave your body and try to take out enemies with your bow - your body is left vulnerable at this time) make it a frantic, confusing and consequently very fun shooter. You can have some great moments when you switch the gravity in a room, have someone drop in front of you and blast their startled faces off. Or on a killing spree with your spirit only to be abruptly brought back to your body by someone placing a grenade at your feet.
If enough people have copies of the game (it needs to be a full server to be fun), then perhaps we could organise a game.
I'll be back at Uni tomorrow, so I'll be on a proper PC then so I can start a new Audiosurf competition, if no new ones have been made, and providing someone will play it.
Try and think of some popular songs to play along to. One most people will or should have. For example, Stairway To Heaven. NB. If you don't have Stairway To Heaven, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Aye, everybody should have a copy of Stairway To Heaven tucked away somewhere, t'was one of Rolf Harris' best. _________________ But Master, does not the fire need water too? (Heh-heh)
Does not the mountain need the storm?
Does not your scrotum need kicking?
We've done the Rock/Metal angle. Why not move onto another genre? I would suggest indie (as it's my primary musical focus), but most songs are way too short and often aren't interpreted well by the game. I suggest some dance this time.
Some newies, but goodies I'm currently listening to are Justice (D.A.N.C.E. and DVNO being the favourites) and Does It Offend You, Yeah? (their top picks being We Are Rockstars and Let's Make Out). Or for the classic dance - how about some Prodigy (anything off The Fat of the Land or the Pendulum remix of Voodoo People) or Chemical Brothers (Block Rockin' Beats and Hey Boy Hey Girl being the obvious choices)? I suppose, though, that we have to consider availability and I'm not sure how many people will have these songs. Just suggestions, anyway.
I like the idea of Stairway to Heaven, but aren't there a massive number of different versions about? Some full length, some not.
Anyone fancy playing FREE game Trackmania Nations Forever some time? I have played it online before and several times with some online pals and you can get alot of fun out of it. Every man for himself is pretty good. But playing in teams is where the real fun is.
Give the game a go atleast and if you fancy trying it as a social or something, just say so in this thread.
