Who cares. 5 mins.
How big is the file though? If its only 5 mins I can't imagine it will be massive, however if it I, like most people, may be in trouble..

To be fair I don't see what the major problem is with installing data. It's only because Blu Ray read speed is less, and the install speeds up load times, which is good. As long as it is only about 5 minutes, maybe 15 at max, it's not going to make much difference to the experience of the game, apart from makingit run quicker. |

hey if it makes the game run smoother i don't think anyones going to be arsed about installing for this game. hopefully the 360 version has an optional install cause i'm sure this will be the game to send a few 360's into meltdown by constantly loading from disc. crackdown was the game that buggered mine up and i think that a small install could help the machine out.

Every Playstation3 has a hard drive so why not take advantage of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So are we placing bets that the first spoilers on the net will be on the 360 version due to the PS3 guys being 5 mins behind?

What's the point in making it mandatory if it's only 5mins? Surely it can't install much information in just 5mins, so I don't see why it would need that information installed for it to work.

I heard it's do with performance & pop up thingy. I'd be happier to play GTA4 with better performance.
5 mins is about 500mb to 1gb, no big deal. |

Well, seeing as I have erased my DMC4 install off the HD, I have plenty of room. No probs.

He also said the Rockstar rep told him that the PS3 version looked a little bit better..
He was coy about any performance differences. But he didn't deny that the PS3 version might lack the traffic and other pop-in that's in the 360 version.
Maybe the install helps with that.
He also said the PS3 version has 'pretty good' optional Sixaxis control for helicopters, as well as boats and bikes, though it takes a little getting used to. |

No not a big deal - but i dont know im starting to feel a lil sorry for the NONE techy ppl with the 40 GB - im sure there drives are starting to fill up now 
Some how i feel like im heading back to the Commodore 64 days with the waiting!
Saying that on the bright side its a hell of alot smaller than the 9 - 12 GB installs on the PC!!!

I stuck on a till at work, so may as well add another post before lunch.
I don't mind any reasonable install time, it's better than the dreaded POP IN, which can shatter any real sense of libery city being a living breathing world.
It's one of the final missions, you're turning the corner and oh no! were did that bus come from ahhhh smash... mission failed.. arghhhhhhhhh

5mins we've been waiting since October 5 mins is not goner ruin 100 plus hours of pure GTA enjoyment.
this is how I see it, intsall ok, goes off makes drink, food, empties bladder, gets back, relax, install complete, hours go by =

I've ordered the 360 version because thats the one the majority of my friends are buying. If there is an optional 5 minute install I'll do it.

The majority of people on forums are able to throw their arms up over anything. It's a quite sad really.

Ha ha! Seriously though, 5mins is no great shakes. The 20min install for DMC was a complete joke, but with GTA, you'll want to spend at least 5min having a look at the map won't you?
Personally, I'll opt for the install version on 360 if it is available, since anything that makes the game run quicker/smoother is going to be worth the effort. |
