Okay, this is coming out in the next couple days. I'm not sure how they are going to implement the release for the free version. If they will demanding we download it from their shitty EA Store pish, then I won't be getting it straight away, but will in fact be waiting for a direct link for it. Perhaps PCZone could help me out there?

Anyway, we can use this thread for posting pictures of our new creatures too.

The free version is the same as the £5 version from what I can tell, except for the actual creaturey content.

I read somewhere that the paid version has about 220 different parts to mix and match, and the trial version has apparently only 25% of that content.

What's more interesting is that I heard that whatever you pay for the trial will be deducted from the price of the full version when you buy it, making the paid Creature Creator an elaborate pre-order scheme of sorts.

I wonder how me buying the online version of the creator will gel with a pre-order from play.com? ...or does that offer only count if you're buying the full whack from EA's download service?

I certainly wouldn't want to take part in a paid pre-order scheme that was going to cost me extra money on top of the full game, even if we do get this little early taster of Spore for the cash. If I did, that would be like paying money for a demo, which is something that only Sony have ever had the balls to try so far, and wouldn't be something that I would feel good about being a part of...

Hmmmmm. Seems that the free 'Trial Version' has been leaked a little early.

*Edit* Here's a second link, to a more reputable (and much faster) site with the demo.

My download hasn't finished yet, but there's a bunch of people over on Kotaku vouching for it's authenticity.

If you're too cowardly to check the link yourself, I'll let you know how it works out for me in an hour or so.

Have been playing about for the past couple of hours - and am quite impressed by the CC so far. The only problem I found is that often, the ankles do not connect to the feet and the legs, therefore, dangle like spaghetti in mid air... This is especially apparent if you have lond spindly legs... I hope this is only a demo problem. Has anyone else found this? Or, in fact, any other annoyances?

Has noone noticed the leg thing i mentioned above??!!

Also, how come I see some screens with creatures all shiny (i.e. normal mappe, i guess) but mine aren't. To be honest I can't see any options that would enable that in-game, and all my settings are on high....

P.S. loving the ponysus... I really must get some of my creatures up on imageshack.... Incidentally, how about also uploading the .png file (i.e. the creatue itself) so that people can play about with them? .png is just an image file so should be accepted by imageshack et al.

I've only seen the 'leg thing' once so far, and that was with "Martian Mike's" hands, after I turned them into big jelly tentacles.

For the shinyness, you have to press some of the extra buttons in the 'paint' section. There are a few skins which are all slimy and shiny looking hidden away in there.

Does the .png really contain the creature details? I thought it was just a less compressed, higher quality image file. If it does, though, I'll put 'em all up somewhere. Creature swap-shop!

Worryingly, when I tried to check that the Ponysus had posted okay just then, I got taken to this page...

If I get a knock on the door in five minutes, and chained up for being a possible "Small Bean Regarder", a "Unabummer", a "Two pin din plug" or a "Shrub Rocketeer", I'm putting the blame entirely on Spore. Paging Jack Thompson, paging Jack Thompson...

Well I think, if you drag the png file into CC, it opens the creature up in it. I believe Maxis have added some extra info to the .pngs to turn them in to "save files" for creatures.

I might be wrong though. But, I'm sure I ain't. It's a paradox.

So only some skins are shiny?? So how does one get the shiny skins? Does one need the FULL version of the "demo"?!
